Camp Counselor Rose |
S U M M E R C A M P
Because our father worked for the State of New York, we were allowed to attend summer camp for free. Every summer we attended a beautiful camp in the Catskills called Camp Sheeran. It was located in Red Hook, New York. We loved this camp so much! It was one of the happiest times for Jane, Esther, and me. Most of the other campers couldn't wait for the two weeks to end. Many would cry because they wanted to go home. We cried because we wanted to stay! Our counselors could never understand our reluctance to leave.
This camp is where I really learned to swim. It was where I discovered nature. The Catskill Mountains were so different from our home back in New York City. After I graduated from high school I returned to camp as a counselor, while Jane and Esther were still campers. We were so happy we could still spend our summers together.
